Be It Canal Or River!
image Wales Outdoors use Canadian Canoes which accommodate up to three people who then work as a team to paddle a canal (and through a long and dark canal tunnel) or the River Wye.
We will play some boat realted games while on the water to break up the paddling. These are great fun and designed to encourage a sub-conscious familiarity with boat handling. Think of 'tag' or 'it' with paddles :)
Basic instruction is given at the start of the session and then we're off...

This makes for a great half day on the canal and combined with other, walking tunnels, makes for a fun themed day out. Or go for a full day on the river, packed lunch not included but a pub lunch can be :)

Best Canoeing Locations...

The River Wye offers a great day long trip that is both quiet and relaxing as well as being, in places, challenging and exciting. The river changes depending on water levels and so sometimes it is sedate and at other times a faster moving body of water. Our trip is Glasbury to Hay on Wye and we will have time for a quick explore of Hay before being taken back to the start point by minibus.

Alternatively Talybont on Usk and the canal is a gorgeous location, placid water with no fear of becoming involved with an epic, unless you argue with a canal boat. The highlight of this journey is a trip through a very dark canal tunnel. You can't see the light at the end of the tunnel at the entrance so head torches are required (we supply those). As stated previously, this half day on the canal works well when mixed up with our tunnel walk nearby that takes in some culverts and a railway tunnel as well as a stunning waterfall. This is a great day in the heart of the Brecon Beacons.
