You coming from afar for our Waterfalls Walk? Well, we recommend booking accommodation at Sgwd Gwladys cafe - The staff are great, it's en suit rooms and a bunkroom so small and large groups catered for and it's at the walks start point.
Let’s deal with todays news point by disappointing point… but first let’s highlight something that is reported on the BBC News pages that might blow your mind and is something that I’ve been shouting about since day 1… The Welsh Government has been advised that the virus survives “only for minutes outside but for hours on indoor surfaces”.
So there you are having an adventure in Wales and taking some amazing pics and perhaps writing up a short piece on what you’ve been up to and you share with your friends.
Here is a regularly updated listing of stuff that we have tried and tested and absolutely love. This is not advertising, this is recommendation. Most items here are recommended with no association between Wales Outdoors and the product. A few items we receive a kickback and sometimes you do to :) This is because we have arranged with the supplier/manufacturer a discount for those who adventure with Wales Outdoors... Lucky you!
NO change of date or credits will be available after June 5th as we need to draw a line under the admin and move forwards with a clear idea of numbers wishing to attend any event so that we may plan and implement safety protocols appropriately.
So let us get out and about by the seaside this weekend. We will stay indoors if we feel ill (we’re not idiots or gluttons for punishment). We won’t, we promise, approach strangers and kiss them. There will be no coughing over the vulnerable.
A concise and comprehensive kit explanation and links to suppliers for walking and backpacking/wild camping. We'll publish every month on fb so really there is no excuse to be wet and miserable on a cold day on the hill.
Londoners will be gurning from ear to ear with the news that Dom is back from his most recent ‘Up North’ tour and that they can once again look forward to some small venue intimacy with the master spinner.
Of course I could be wrong and it could be that these restrictions rumble on due to a spike or the continued mismanagement of the crisis by the AM’s and MP’s. If that’s the case then we’ll bump July too. But, all is currently looking good for July and what a month we have planned in – do check it out 🙂
I had to move my van from Canton to it’s store at Penarth Marina following the final elements of refitting it – a long journey into solar power and gas heating and sofa building. It’s done. My camper is now the best version of itself and the best van conversion I have ever worked on. It’s perfect for getting away in this weather that we are having and quite frustrating that that is not an option…
There’s a thing out there, a thing that makes no sense, well, unless you look at it through the corner of your eye, sideways, askance…
Now that it's not needed as a live in vehicle, I lived in my van from September 2012 through to November 2018, and so set up to accommodate everything I owned, I could make a conversion that was all about utility and comfort. A van for living in but mostly for holidays... So I stripped out the IKEA and country cottage T&G interior and started again...
Oh Joy! Cosmeston and the Vale parks are to re-open! We should regard ourselves as lucky…
Here at Wales Outdoors HQ we have been working hard to restructure, reschedule and to develop new events for the lovely members and occasional walkers that join us on our adventures. We hope that you are coping with lockdown and although certainly suffering from withdrawals from the hills we know that both we and you are set to get out there as soon as is allowed.
On the eve of the lockdown Wales Outdoors took the dramatic decision, based on my ‘spooky action at a distance’, to re-schedule all events through to the end of June for later on in the year. And that now looks about right, with the lifting of restrictions that, unless there is spike in infection rates and so a return to the draconian measures of late, will begin to unravel as the public quickly push against the boundaries set by central and local government. It looks like we’ll be back out walking with you lot, in line with government advice at the time of course, on the 1st July 🙂
We decided that the Covid 19 lockdown was a fine excuse to get out and explore the bits of Cardiff nearby and to get in some good walks away form the crush of Cardiff’s population in Bute Park.
