Iceland – The Golden Circle and the Best of the South

July 3, 2023 @ 8:00 am - July 9, 2023 @ 2:00 pm

You can join us for this tour in Cardiff, at Heathrow or in Iceland.

We’ve decided to offer up a tour to Iceland during half term so as to accommodate those in education. By booking or accommodation and vehicle hire early we’ve kept costs down once again. Flights are at the time of writing this £166pp and this tour is either a meet at the airport or join Andy for a lift as he drives from Cardiff to Heathrow with pick ups along the way :

ABOUT It’s Heathrow to Keflavik and we’ll pick up the vehicle and then it’s along the South Coast, stopping at a couple of sites along the way before getting to our accommodation for a couple of nights. We then trend ack along the coast taking in waterfalls and glaciers and black sand beaches before stopping for another couple of nights in the Golden Circle. See the itinerary for a blow by blow account of the wondrous sights we’ll encounter 🙂 This is a guided tour with a good deal of short walks, with visits to hot springs and municipal pools, beaches, mountains, waterfalls, glaciers and volcanoes!

WALKS Walks and excursions are all included in the price and these are mainly made up of drive to a location and get out for an hours or two’s exploration before heading off again and being wowed by another of Iceland’s natural wonders.

ACCOMMODATION We move from place to place so over the course of the week expect to have occupied 3 different beds. This means we should all attempt to travel light and just carry a small bag to and from the car. Most of the accommodations have kitchens for our use and so we can self cater in the more remote areas and this will save us some money (most things including food are excessively expensive in Iceland). Towels, bedlinen etc are all provided.

AUTUMN Autumn in South Iceland has good daylight hours, the possibility of spotting the Northern Lights and temperatures hovering at around 6 degrees.

IMPORTANT This is a budget tour and is fully inclusive of good accommodation, transport, one municipal pool visit, entrance to the Kerid Crater, to the oldest parliament in the world and all guiding. Any other excursions are optional. See the itinerary for a general plan but note that this might change due to issues beyond our control and the prevailing weather. Flights and food are not included.
