Our Guided Wild Camping Tour In Knoydart
Our 5-day itinerary will take you on a journey through some of the most beautiful and remote parts of Scotland. Our experienced guides will take care of all the logistics, leaving you free to immerse yourself in the stunning natural scenery and wildlife of the Knoydart peninsula.
Day 1: Kinloch Hourn to Barrisdale Our adventure begins at Kinloch Hourn, a small hamlet on the banks of Loch Hourn. We will walk from there to Barrisdale where we will either camp of stay in the bothy there.
Day 2: Barrisdale to Inverie After breakfast, we will continue our journey to the remote village of Inverie, the only settlement on the Knoydart peninsula. We will hike through the beautiful landscape, stopping to admire the stunning views of the surrounding hills. In Inverie, we will visit the Old Forge pub, the remotest pub in mainland Britain, after setting up camp for the night.
Day 3: Ferry to Mallaig We have a ‘free’ day but you are encouraged to join your guide for a short ferry trip to Mallaig for some town living (chips and ice cream) and the longer return which explores Loch Nevis. On a good day there is wildlife aplenty to spy from the deck.
Day 4: Inverie to Sourlies On day four, we will hike to the stunning Sourlies beach, one of the most remote and beautiful spots on the Knoydart peninsula. Along the way, we will pass through beautiful glens and hills, spotting wildlife such as red deer, golden eagles, and otters. We will set up camp on the beach, where you can enjoy the stunning scenery.
Day 5: Sourlies to Kinloch Hourn On the final day, we will hike back to Kinloch Hourn, taking in the stunning views of the lochs and mountains. This is the toughest day of the trip, but we’ve earned our ‘expert hiker’ badge on the previous days so all should go well. We will arrive back in the early evening, where we will say our goodbyes and you can reflect on your incredible journey through the wilds of Knoydart.
