A fine mountain day in the centre of the central area of the Brecon Beacons National Park
About
This 15k classic horseshoe walk crosses the valley by the bridge replacing the lower Neuadd dam and climbs on to the Craig Fan Ddu ridge. We visit an unusual and poignant trig point and then go to the only Spitfire crash site in the Brecon Beacons National Park. We will then take in the 3 highest peaks in the Brecon Beacons – Corn Du, Pen y Fan and Crybin – before heading back to the cars down a roman road.
There is the option to take in a 4th peak – Fan y Big – and the ‘diving board stone, weather, time and group fitness permitting. Good paths throughout apart from the short detour to the crash site.
