This trip is a stunner… Join Andy in his ‘winter home’ for a week of walking on this highly memorable island. Three days to summit El Teide, a ‘hippy beach’ day and maybe a day walking Masca Gorge which is open to a select few visitors – I’m looking into this… If not it’s the natural and secret infinity pool on the final day 🙂 It’s a packed itinerary and just about as memorable as you can get!
This is a Tenerife South Airport to Tenerife South Airport trip so you can fly on the flights as pictured (Bristol) or from any other UK airport. You can extend your trip from either side of the 7th to 12th and Andy can advise on great accommodation choices and locations for further exploration.
Walking is with backpacks with minimal clothing, lots of water and some food and snacks for along the route refueling. Andy can advise on lightweight backpacking. We’ll dump nonessential items with Andy’s friends who we’ll be staying with on the final two nights, prior to beginning our walk.
Monday – Fly Cardiff to Tenerife South – A night in a rather lovely apartment near the airport and the beach. Sunset on the beach anyone?
Tuesday – Walk ocean to Vilaflor and overnight in a rather lovely traditional hotel with good wholesome food on offer and a locals bar to enjoy. Vilaflor is a stunning and unspoiled small town in the mountains and pine forests with spectacular views of the ocean
Wednesday – Walk to El Teide’s caldera rim and descent to our poshest accommodation yet, the Parador situated within Teide’s Caldera.
Thursday – Early start and a walk to El Teide’s summit at 3700m before catching the last cable car down (a spectacular trip in it’s own right) and then a taxi to the accommodation for the rest of the stay. This is at a friend of Andy’s and is cave living with a touch of the luxurious 🙂
Friday – Off to Masca for stunning views and a descent of the Masca gorge. Now though, we have to walk back up to Masca village so this is a long but moderately paced day of difficult terrain. If Masca is not available we’ll have a split location day – Hippy Beach in the morning and natural infinity pool in the afternoon – both of these locations require some walking but nothing too strenuous 🙂
Saturday – The morning is spent clearing up and then it’s off to a beach near El Medano, Andy’s favorite beach on Tenerife, and then to Manfred’s Bar for a late lunch before heading to the airport and saying our goodbyes.
This is a sea to summit challenge – a walk from the airport to the top of mighty El Teide… Week-long guided walking holidays in Tenerife are usually about £1750 and unguided, so you fly in and are given a route map and set off come in at about £1000
I am offering this walk for a team of five for a grand total, excluding flights (currently costing £120) and excluding food (cheap as chips), for £475!!!
