From September we will be delivering a once a week socialisation day for Home Ed Kids living in South Wales.

Initially in Cardiff, if there is good interest we’ll roll this out to other centres or indeed anywhere where there is a need. We’re committed to providing a full day and so it’s parent respite as well as a youth social. Of course there is education too.

Home Ed Kids Socialisation Activity Day

There has been a exponential rise in home education in the UK and being long term supporters of avoiding the mainstream and with plenty of youth and school provision under our belts we have decided to offer, in the first instance, a Cardiff based and weekly Home Ed Socialisation and Activity Day during school term time.

We will meet at a central Cardiff location at 0900 and have a range of different locations, activities and adventures planned. These will be made available near the start of each term for all of those expressing interest or booking onto the day/s. Think beach combing, kite flying, hill walking, wild swimming, farm visit, bushcraft, camp cooking, drawing, photography, found object sculpture making etc…

The programme will aim to offer low cost child ‘care’ with an emphasise on child led days and socialisation. Any education is effectively a bonus to making new friends and maintaining those relationships.

The days are dip in and dip out – you book onto what you can afford, what is of interest to your child and without penalty or favour. We will initially limit each day to twelve young people aged between 10 and 15 years, if successful we will quickly introduce a similar day for 6 to 10 years of age, and will supply two members of staff. Parents are welcome to attend and can do so free of charge.

Let’s make Home Ed better. Let’s make Home Ed the best experience for your children.

Andy has years of youth and social inclusion work in his cv. We have PGCE’s that are on board. We have specialists in different disciplines, such as art and photography and foraging and mountain craft etc. We hope this is just what your children (and you) have been looking for!

As this is a predominantly OUTDOOR experience day (we do have a foul weather location for VERY poor weather) all young people attending will need:

Waterproofs
Warm Layers
Walking boots
Packed lunch

Any specialist item as advised based on the activity choice for the day (see programme)

Share the love :)
