It wasn’t meant to be…
No, what with the Calmac ferry from Ardrossan to Cambletown being cancelled at the last minute and then the huge tailback and diversion at Balloch, effectively closing the road to the Highlands AND more so the general idiocy of Scotland’s Covid rules – yes, every cafe and garage and shop were demanding hand washing and mask wearing and social distancing, despite it being obvious to every sensible critical thinker that none of those measures have any effect other than to install fear into a mainstream media driven population – we felt it was time to leave Bonnie Scotland to another year and perhaps another time of the year too.
It kind of felt like Scotland was just a bit full of poo…

And so we headed South and back into England, to where the hills were empty and the cafes operating, as much as is possible, as usual.
Northumbria…
It was a good decision. I’d always wanted to visit Northumbria and walk the Cheviots and we explored much before heading on to the Yorkshire Dales.
Here we enjoyed a pleasant campsite in Dent before a mega walk and overnight, undertaking part of the Yorkshire Three Peaks

We’ll be back in Scotland in February 2022 and in Yorkshire in March 2022. You can check out those events here:
